Relay For Life

I participated in Relay For Life this past Friday night-Saturday morning. It's the walk for the cure...aka cure for cancer. There's teams and you raise money for the cause of curing cancer and helping those who do have it. The theme for UNC was Movies-Lights, Camera, Action! Our group chose the movie Holes-Digging For A Cure! We were the Ominous Onions aka foreboding evil and evil=cancer. They held it at the Rec Center on campus and each team has assigned spots in the gym and you can decorate your station and you dress up like your theme. They have games going on like dancing and contests and cake walks. One member from your team must be walking on the track at all times so we all took turns walking around. Over all it was a blast. We stayed up all night and it ended at 8 AM. At the closing ceremony's they handed out awards for best costume and tent and best baton. After that we all got a chance to sign the banner and give a pledge if we would like. There were those that pledged to never smoke a cigarette, get checked regularly, to eat healthy and so on. Then everyone takes one last lap and packs up and goes home. I signed the banner, took my lap then went down and pledged. "I pledge to always stand by my mother because she survived!"
